Faith Formation, Religious Education, or sometimes called CCD classes, are offered for children in grades 1 – 8. Our program incorporates Sacrament preparation (which is at least two years). Children attend classes on Sundays each year throughout school age. If you are new to our program, we invite you to visit, call, or email, and ask any questions you have. Faith Formation is a life long journey and children should participate in the program each year. We aim to be a community on the journey together. We begin Sunday, September 17, 2017 for Mass and a Meet & Greet over in Father Feely Hall. For more about our classes click.
Sunday school meets from 10:45 AM – 12 PM. Children line up by the garages and wait for their teacher and are dismissed at the same door. Again, we welcome all new students to visit, call 718-533-7898 or e-mail email@example.com for more information or any questions you have. Registration is ongoing. Click here for the calendar.
Special Liturgy: Once a month our 9:30 AM Mass. This homily is geared toward the children and the childrens choir sings at this Liturgy.
Childrens Liturgy of the Word: is for all children (both catholic and public school) during the 9:30 AM Mass. We offer our Children’s Liturgy of the Word where all children are invited to gather in a separate space, led by an adult leader. The Leader helps to make the readings more tangible and therefore, hopefully, more memorable. The children interact and ask questions and then return to the Church before the Eucharist. We have at least 40 children who participate and we have wonderful volunteers who lead the session. It’s for children of all ages.
RCIA: Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. We offer an opportunity for those to engage in faith discussions for adults wishing to be Baptized, or to receive their First Holy Communion, or Confirmation. Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist are Easter Sacraments, so as we prepare and gather for about a year. The reception takes place at the Easter Vigil.
Infant Baptism: Baptisms take place in English every 4th Sunday, every 3 months. Since Lent is a season of penance and conversion, we usually don’t have Baptisms during Lent. Please call the Rectory 718-424-5212 in order to set up an appointment with the Pastor and register for Baptism. We hold a workshop for the parents prior to the Baptism. Usually the Tuesday before the Sunday of.
Our Pastoral Care Center: offers a pantry open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 AM to 12 PM.
